Not only did they get the classic flute sound right (including the 5 1/3'), but they also included voices like the 16' Clarinet, 16' Trombone, 16' Cello, 8' Violin, 8' Kinura etc. It would have to be a labour of love.įWIW, Yamaha did some good sampling of a Lowrey as part of the Tyros 5 and Genos keyboards. There has been talk of producing other brands in software, but the time and costs involved seem to have stalled such ideas. gtc has it right, an organ in a band situation is usually a 'Hammond', even if it isn't.

The bottom line is that, unlike Hammond clones and software instruments, there is almost no demand for a Lowrey clone. It's good that this happens, as new people start to contribute each time. It must have been a hit, because you see them everywhere and they are still available. When the Mustang was at its nadir in popularity, they surveyed mustang aficionados which was the model they liked best, and then they recreated that one. If Lowrey or their clones want to make a marketable organ, why don't they recreate the classic DSO or TLO sound? Hammond seems to have understood this, and all their new models are either faithful replicas of their classic models, or have a faithful Hammond replica at the heart of the keyboard (like the SK series). However, the used organs that people are fighting over are the classic Lowreys and Hammonds. Another is the introduction of the new Ringway, which looks to me to be almost exactly like the most recent Lowreys that are no longer being made. One is a forum member looking for a modern spinet style organ, and the dealer getting frustrated that the forum member didn't want to pay the asking price in a very depressed market. I've been reflecting on a few things that have been posted to the forum lately.
